The Yes Men Fix The World - 1726 Words
Itââ¬â¢s quite easy to say that we do not live in a perfect world. Several people wish that they had the tools to fix the world. But it not an easy task, because the tools that are needed are not already assessable. However, in the movie The Yes Men: Fix the World Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonanno think that they have found the tool to fix the world: impersonation. Andy and Mike impersonate corporations that they believe to be ââ¬Å"big-time criminals in order to publicly humiliate them, and otherwise giving journalist excuses to cover important issues.â⬠(Identity Correction, n.d.) They create fake website of those corporations and wait to be invited to conferences, once invited to these conferences they use that platform and they use different antics to that they believe will ââ¬Å"wake up their audiences to the danger of letting greed run our world.â⬠(The Yes Men: Fix the World Story, 2009). The Yes Men targeted corporations that affected large groups of people, tw o of those corporations were Dow Chemical and HUD, U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development. Dow Chemical is claimed to be responsible for the Bhopal gas leak incident in India, since they bought out Union Carbide, while HUD had a hand in keep Hurricane Katrina victims out of their homes.
